Earnest question: If we adopt BIP177 (which I already have) and start expressing sats as integers with the ₿ symbol on the left, what’s the best way to handle millisats? Showing them like ₿0.001 feels too confusing right now. Any ideas?

Sats are the standard. With that, you have no problem with millisats. In a deflationary asset, you need smaller and smaller units, and redefining the base integer is as clueless as not knowing how to do maths.
Just express things in SAT's , you're the one adding confusion to something which should be a done deal.
