In the late 3rd or early 4th century, during a time of Christian persecution, Roman soldiers martyred Zotic, Atal, Camasis, and Filip in Niculițel, Scythia Minor (present-day Romania). Their relics were discovered in 1971, revealing that they were Roman soldiers who secretly practiced Christianity and were killed for their faith.
