I think it depends on how strongly they're committed to the idea... There are NFL superstars who think the Earth is flat (or at least say so when someone with a camera asks), but that belief doesn't affect their ability to catch a football and make $millions for it. But the people who go "OK the Earth is flat, now WHAT ELSE IS A LIE??" will inevitably go off the deep end, start isolating themselves from society, etc.
