I was there a bit over a year ago. Saw Florence and Rome for a few days. Will be returning to Florence sometime for sure. I like just getting lost in the streets and finding food or shops of trinkets (I like to call them curios, for the luls). And didnt have time to visit the countryside, which I gather is a must.
Funniest little thing about the visit was how disgusted waiter would appear if we didn't order wine with food, and asked for a cocktail (they didn't have much to offer outside of wine) instead.
They absolutely are. While they're more or less an expensive tourist trap, it's a tradition that should continue, imo. They exist since the plague, probably because they didn't discover the FP2 mask yet. ๐
You mean you would order food at the restaurant with a cocktail? If so, nobody does this in Italy as one either drinks wine, beer, or water while having lunch or dinner
Precisely, yes. It's not uncommon in the States to start a meal with a cocktail. I guess usually finished before you get any food served, but even that didn't seem to please them. Let alone asking for a second cocktail AFTER my food had been served. I got some serious sneers. What can I say, I was on vacation and trying to catch a little buzz
