As much as I hate it, I really need @Jeff Booth's thoughts on what happened and the current state of Bitcoin. I wish I could be confident and satisfied with my own views, but alas Booth’s perspective is just more of a signal than any other’s.
IMHO Bitcoin is fine. Just the free market learning what works and what doesn’t which will drive more resilience. A small battle (which feels like everything to some) in the long war for sound money. Lots going on in background with many Bitcoiners who also view bitcoin as money unconvinced that this was the right path (or time)

What??? Free market??? You always said “IF bitcojn stays decentralised and secure”.. 110 has proven it is not decentralised anymore. The current psyop is making believe that nothing happened, only some crazy people with a bad strategy got “humbled”. UNREAL delusion… Your node doesn’t matter! Why should you even self custody? Really: what is the difference between buying onchain or an etf? Is there any doubt in your mind that you will not able to move your coins if “someone” doesn’t want you to? Ok.. Even Booth is onboard the takeover. Another BIG disappointment… This place is rotten! Very sad times…

Why would you trust that they also view Bitcoin as money considering their proximity with Howard lutnick class Fiat connoisseurs?
I don't think Bitcoin is fine. We are now 100% certain that miners define what Bitcoin is. Miners are low time preference profit driven companies controlled and regulated by the big government. (currently with small exceptions like the based Roughnecks) Thus, they will choose the decisions of Saylor and BlackRock ETFs with higher probability. Saylor and BlackRock do not own all the funds, the funds belong to their investors but it seems their investros are fiat driven maxis. Saylor and BlackRock assume that economic power and dictate rules. I think that is fiat capture.
Core pushes v30 without any community support - an update that is against the basic Bitcoin protocol security - implemented. 20% of the community pushes for an update to roll it back, with another 50% on old core version never supporting v30 - denied. How is this fine?

@Jeff Booth Sorry to bring the flak to you. I hope you’re right, that it’s just not the right path (or time) To me, I could see that BIP110 is more of a diagnosis on where control lies in Bitcoin. The biggest problem to tackle is to decentralise mining. The best way for that is to make it more profitable for miners to mine of Datum and StratumV2. Bob Burnett mentioned couple of times that it is a lot more profitable than officially stated. If that is true, what is holding back hashers to point their hash to Datum/StratumV2? And what are the ways to make that change happen?
Also the comment free market learning what works makes no sense. Because the market for this software - Core/Knots and its specifix attributes are nodes. Nodes are the market for this software and the majority do not approve of this.
To sum it up. Node runners are in the market for software to help them relay information on Bitcoin network. A handful of Bitcoin Core devs offer the market a software that goes against basic security protol. Another software Knots offers an option that honours a good security feature. 30% of the network upgrades to core v30+. 20% stands up to it and 50% sticks to status quo which mean small opreturn. The market has spoken. 70% wants the software with small opreturn. Then a handful of people in control of miners decides that 30%(prob inflated number) is what will be used. Is this a wish of the free market or has the decision been centrally decided and pushed onto the rest of the ecosystem? How is this decentralised money? How is this fine?

I wouldn't call it fine either... more like seriously wounded. Definitely questioning why I would want to stack more sats to feed the suit beast that has captured the space. Time will tell, but much was revealed over the past few months... and it was ugly.

The split is still splitting and moving. It's not over.

It's a tough spot. It just doesn't feel the same to me. Time for some soul searching on next steps.
