Indeed. Device-to-Device is far more private than having a server in the middle. This was not even intentional from start. The thing is that most servers have limited bandwidth and if the server is producing that data volume then it quickly runs out of bandwidth. Geogram devices can send/receive emails directly on their phones too, albeited routed first to the server with the domain name. At the beginning was planning that emails are only delivered to the end user device but this is a problem because if the user is off-line then the email isn't delivered. Will likely add some cache on the server side to sync messages when the user is back. Giving the option for the user to disable that behavior if he wishes.
