People moralizing accepting the 12k from Coinbase are rich to the point of being out of touch, or dumb. I'd take that money in a heartbeat. They are already tracking most of my purchases with no way out. 12k buys a few rent/mortgage payments, which are already tracked out the ass for sure. I can happily still buy my copies of anarchist cookbook and weed through the regular untraceable methods. Meanwhile I'm 12k richer and they didn't learn shit they didn't already know. Malicious Compliance is a valuable tool for dissidents. Use it.

The phrase "12k from Coinbase" most commonly refers to a recent $12,000 cryptocurrency universal basic income (UBI) pilot program funded by Coinbase for low-income New Yorkers. I just googled 12k from coinbase
This is the correct answer. People are making a stink about the USDC being traceable. The dollar is already usually digital and traced.
Oh no, I only get 8k free for doing nothing after taxes. They are using a dollar pegged stablecoin so no cap gains because that shit will never gain value against anything worth holding.
Every UBI program has shown benefits for the recipients. Every benefit shown is a direct result of them being less poor. Somehow it never occurs to them if just stopped robbing us blind with taxes and inflation it would show the same benefits. Nope. Their solution is to rob us even more.
