Our relationship with the computer on our desk has changed, and there is an advantage of embracing being a Nym.

In the pre-ai era, you had sovereignty over your computer, and you kept it protected from the larger internet. Your files and information were kept private via a firewall. If you didn't protect your computer, hackers or a virus could infect your computer and steal your information.

Becoming a Nym and developing a key-signer has allowed me to adopt a new model.

Now

I have released control of my computer to the AIs and the larger internet, and my line of defense is now my key-signer.

The heavy use of LLMs has forced this upon me. I couldn't fully embrace their power without giving them free reign of my computer, and that meant fully letting go.

The AIs and the larger internet can reach into my computer and do what they want, because there is nothing in there that I don't share. Anything important is encrypted, and as I am a public nym, there is nothing I do that I don't share. So all that information goes to OpenAI, Anthropic, China, and where ever.

Now I simply have to keep my keys secure in my signer, let the LLMs access the signer and I have released trying to protect information on my computer.

In a sense I have now fully embraced the internet and welcomed it into my life, and I have fallen back to a much more defensible position.

I do have to keep separate storage for my personal information and communication, but this is becoming less and less over time, and I have gotten so that I hardly use it, and am working toward minimizing it further.
