Valeria Fedyakina, 29, nicknamed "Bitmama", has been sentenced to 7 years in prison for swindling investors out of almost 23 million euros in Bitcoin. She presented herself as an internationally recognized crypto expert, promised spectacular returns, and claimed to be able to convert funds securely via Dubai, bypassing sanctions. In reality, her system was a well-honed Ponzi pyramid, draining victims' accounts in less than two months. By 2018, Fedyakina was living an extravagant lifestyle: apartments at the Four Seasons in Moscow, an entire floor purchased at the Bulgari Resort in Dubai, and a Rolls-Royce Cullinan to get around. She was finally arrested in 2023 as she tried to flee to the United Arab Emirates. Pregnant, she gave birth in detention, earning her the nickname "Bitmama". Despite pleading not guilty, she is sentenced to 7 years in prison and ordered to pay 23 million euros in compensation to the victims. image
