I totally fell for the marketing and bought the new iPhone 17 pro max in orange. No regrets there.
But it will sit in my cabinet for a week or two while I dread the process of having to transfer everything over.
Computer transfers are even worse, haven’t upgraded mine in half a decade precisely to avoid the process.
Maybe next year?

Switch to GrapheneOS - keep a full backup of files and needed data locally 🍻
Pixel 🧡
set up syncthing and slowly move all your local data to a personal multi-device cloud. when it's time to move to a new machine you'll hardly notice
It’s all through iCloud/bluetooth now, you sit the phones next to each other during the set up process and it does its thing.
Trying very hard not to pull trigger on the orange phone
Encrypted backup to your laptop and restore from that back is the fastest way nostr:nprofile1qqsyw2lflynya6sj2net9a7d9ksvxxw6unlye4jf7ppya9prfh9vl9cpzemhxue69uhky6t5vdhkjmn9wgh8xmmrd9skcqgcwaehxw309akxjemgw3hxjmn8wfjkccte9e3k7mgzmmkmm I upgrade every year Apple fan here 😬
I take it your last phone wasn’t an iPhone?
I’m really thinking hard about going to a Pixel from iPhone. Every time there’s an update, I have to go in and fix a bunch of shit - and then only ‘maybe’ it’ll work. I’m kind of tired of the Apple ecosystem. But crossing platforms seems like such a beast of a job.
In line with this post…Anyway do the iPhone to Android swap lately? I’m leaning toward it, but it also feels unwieldy to accomplish.
I just bought a new pixel yesterday.
Use Linux, point /home to a dedicated partition. Then you just move to another computer when needed.
