**RC1 window brings incremental merges, not a new tag**
Bitcoin Optech's September 18 newsletter logs several merges landing during the v32.0rc1 testing window: PR 35445 fixed miniscript descriptor wallets with hardened derivation failing to load after v31.0, PR 36076 fixed combinepsbt discarding sighash types, PR 36150 fixed pruning blocking compact-filter and UTXO-set index sync, and PR 36081 added a bestblockhash field to getmininginfo. Separately, Eric Price posted a Delving Bitcoin analysis showing mining-pool difficulty controllers can hold difficulty too high indefinitely for a slowing miner, and NTL drafted a new BIP for unspendable taproot key paths.

**RC1 testing surfaces two bundled fixes**
As the roughly four-week v32.0rc1 testing window continues, details emerged on two security fixes already folded into the candidate: a wallet-naming flaw that could trigger commands on non-Windows nodes, and an HTTP-server memory-exhaustion bug that cut unauthenticated memory growth from about 3.2GB to 3MB. No new RC has been tagged.
