I just don't feel comfortable with the idea of a monopolistic protocole. Even though, neither the brand nor the network and even less the product is controlled by a single entity. Therefore, it is actually a pseudo-monopoly. However, an alternative should be available. In my opinion.

I understand what you’re saying, however cat this point in time (post Bitcoin’s inception) anything that would come out as a “competitor” would have unfair advantage to whoever created it. Bitcoin, imo, is a once-in-a-lifetime creation where everything was married to make it fair and decentralize. Any imitators are trying to do so for profit off of Satoshi’s creation which he open sourced.
