I think success would mean when nostr is adopted widely by less tech-savvy. it also means that we have moved to a social media where we value donating to creators directly, LN adopted too by users (zap). We get to choose which algorithm, search and filtering, users can pick. If it gets adopted, the financial support will come naturally I guess. People do not mind paying if they understand the service they are paying for and user-friendly to use. I'd say people are here bcoz they are early adopters, believe the cause, btc believers and some are forced to be here bcoz they were censored by other socials. 👌
