We have a very small yard and only have space for about 6-7 birds to not be stressed. So it's easier to keep tabs on them. Our kitchen scraps and plant matter goes right to them. What they don't use gets composted. Honestly I find it incredibly rewarding and satisfying to keep as much of my waste on my property and used as far as I can. The chickens have brought me so much joy and entertainment for the years we've had them. I feel that it helps keep me grounded
