As an engineer myself I fully disagree with Adam, I believe he makes the wrong argument about hidden data. It’s more of having arbitrary metadata which is not obliged to be relevant. If you want to have best money all its components should be relevant to the core concept of money

Whether or not BIP-444 is a reasonable attempt remains to be seen, however I think that reasonable defaults as to what arbitrary data is allowed on-chain should be an active debate until consensus is reached. I have to say that I don't understand the position of those who say that nothing can be done about spam or arbitrary data in general.

Word is infinite. Bitcoin blockspace is scarce. Talking costs nothing. Putting data on Bitcoin forces every node to store it forever. Language can be multipurpose. Bitcoin has just one purpose: censorship-resistant money.
