Why do people want all the short bus normies from the “platform internet” to come to this protocol? Seriously, I’m looking to understand the answer. It would immediately make Nostr suck. And we are not here for engagement farming and misery harvesting (which is what why X and those other platforms exist). The early internet was much cooler when not everyone was on it. When it was decentralized protocols rather than monolithic platforms. Nostr has always felt like that to me. Fun, limited/small, and generally smarter. I cannot understand the widely held desire to get everybody on Nostr. It’s not a centralized platform dependent on growth for its continuing existence. Over time, it will probably happen anyway, but what’s the rush?

Quando acontecer ele morre. O Nostr é e deve sempre ser nicho. É o princípio máximo da descentralização

"Why can't I browse the firehose without seeing spam?"-ass comment. You gotta curate your own experience. Theres plenty of speces without many normies on every platform. You just selfishly want to keep using a whole ass networking protocol as a "based niggas group chat". The internet wasn't better before it blew up. All those shitty forums full of nerds still exist with much of the same culture in various places. You just want that to be the entire internet. You don't care about anyone else creating communities with people they vibe with. Just "fuck you, got mine".

I don't want the masses here as they are. But like bitcoin, nostr is it's own black hole. It "clicks" after the singularity moment, when your mind is spaghettified and when your models have all been upended. I want the masses here because they each went through that moment and arrived here organically, fresh and in alignment with it. I don't want them here until then. But I also want them to hurry the fuck up and "get it" because the world is in pain and X is making it worse.
