The Chinese have no interest in developing an AI that could challenge the CPC. The Chinese AI are much worse at offensive cyber security and it is on purpose. That is not to say the government there doesn't have access to the unadulterated models but they have little interest in unleashing an open model that could take down the Chinese Firewall.

The Chinese just reverse engineer our AI models. That’s how they created Deepseek. So I would think they will see struggles as they try to create their own models in a vacuum. Of all the software engineers I had worked with the ones from China were among the worst.
