If y'all are going to insist on purity testing the money you accept, you're already NGMI.

Businesses should serve customers, not demand compliance. You're only hurting yourself by intentionally limiting your customer base
It's not a purity test, it's about intention. Agree that P2P is 100% most important and between two parties you are free to transact in which ever medium you choose. But as a business, you are making a conscious choice. The money use use is a vote for a certain system. Vote for Better Money โ> But 100% your choice what you think 'better money' is best defined as.
Makes sense. So that it's not about "Bitcoin only."
Then we have a responsibility to evaluate whether the monies we accept are in accordance with our values.
Since the op was about Monero, no doubt yall have some principled objection to why Monero is not a vote for freedom and "better money" and therefore shouldn't be accepted.
I don't demand anything. You are 100% free to choose to support my business or not.
Disagree that I am hurting myself by not accepting alternative payment options. I sell as much as I need to; and there is more demand for our products than we can produce. Why complicate things further?
Accepting bitcoin:
100% Self-custodial
Private (via LN)
Direct P2P to my own node
No taxes paid by customer or consumer
Protects from inflation over long-term
Helps to support and spread bitcoin awareness and adoption
Allows me to earn in the money that I choose to save in, without additional steps or intermediaries
Your business, your rules. You might make different choices, but #BitcoinOnly works perfectly for me. ๐ค
I will support anyone accepting bitcoin but need to be better at providing extra support to the bitcoin only merchants on here.
We as bitcoiners need to set an example.
So many fake bitcoiners out there willing to excuse shitheads that bash bitcoin so they can shill their shitcoins
you literally used the word 'demand' in the post I replied to
Every person/business/entitity have to make that choice for themselves. I have used Monero in the past and have no issue with it whatsoever but Bitcoin meets all my needs for my own use case (earn/spend/save/transact P2P etc). Personally, I choose to save and hold all my money in Bitcoin, so why would I not want to transact in that MoE as well?

Yeah, that's fine.
" I don't know what the other options are and I don't care" is a perfectly reasonable position.
And yes, "a responsibility to evaluate whether the monies we accept are in accordance with our values" 100% agree there. We all have to make that choice for ourselves! No one else can dictate that for us! ๐ช
Yeah I think we're in agreement.
I just wanted to make the point that it isn't actually about "Bitcoin only"
side note: Tried to zap you (in sats!) and got the response "recipient's lightning address is not valid", just FYI. Perhaps it's intentional. ๐ค
For me, personally, it is. And I do think there is some importance to it, and some valid reasons to make that choice (again, for me personally). But that's not saying others can't decide differently. Your previous points that P2P and hard/private money are important things to consider... avoiding government fiat to as much extent as possible is already going above and beyond what most are willing to do. ๐ช
I might not have inbound liquidity to my node but you shouldn't have gotten THAT error ๐

Yeah! Check out these features! Only the best!

I have the perfect hardware wallet for you!
See, but Bitcoin isn't the only freedom money.
Of course everybody has to make their own choices. There's nothing wrong with that.
The only problem I have is if we're having a public discussion and maximalists are like "don't accept other money because it's not Bitcoin."
This view actively works AGAINST greater human freedom.
Yeah I mean when you make your business name "Sweet Sats" to tap in on the (retard) Bitcoin maxi market, you can't really backtrack can you? I understand you have your reasons.
Go fuck yourself bud
You must be a real quality human to think that mocking people who lost money in a bullshit hack is funny
Have fun with Lukeโs coin
It's your opportunity to learn from what's right in front of you. I'm trying to help you out.
It wasn't a "bullshit hack"
It was utter incompetence at the absolute best.
People foaming at the mouth for Bitcoin only products is the exact environment that created the air for that incompetence to tap into.
And you double down ๐คฃ
Again go fuck yourself and have fun playing in your moms basement
I have hope some day you'll figure out what I'm saying there is just factual and not me trying to be a dick. You can lead a horse to water...
I don't tell anyone else what to do, or what to accept. Only that *I* choose to accept only Bitcoin, and I personally feel that is the *correct* choice that aligns with my *personal* values and goals.
I am heavily invested in the success of Bitcoin, literally everything I have rides on whether BTC succeeds or fails. Every single transaction on the bitcoin network is a vote for that success. So for me, it is of a very high value to ensure that every monetary transaction I personally undertake, is a vote for the ultimate success of the Bitcoin network whenever possible. It's not at all about virtue signaling, or telling anyone else how to transact in their own lives.
If you accept other forms of payment, then convert it yourself, the transaction on the network still occurs though, and you expand your customer base. Sounds like everyone wins that way. And I don't say this from an anti-btc stance, I just bought some things from you recently, but its just makes no sense to purposely limit customers. What's so hard about converting whatever to btc, instead of making some customers convert into btc or them just finding another business that cares about the customer more than the payment method? I mean do what you want, its your business, but its just illogical imho
Gambling on the success of a specific thing and increasing your chances of success by encouraging others to do make the same gamble is fine.
And discouraging others from making other choices because it doesn't support the network you're invested in is a pretty normal choice.
But I think we can do better than this.
We can recognize and support ALL networks and protocols that encourage human freedom and have discussion about their advantages and disadvantages.
To the benefit of everyone.
The cost of doing so is just the time needed to actually learn about different protocols.
