Agreed. It just takes a relearning process. People have grown so accustomed, over generations, to being the product themselves. For decades content has been shown for “free” in exchange for curated advertising, registered accounts with personal info, or structured timing of broadcasting. We have been the controlled content.
The patronage model is both ages old, and brand new. We are the street performers and traveling minstrels of old. Once people truly understand that they have been entertained/informed/inspired/etc without having exchanged something of themselves already, they will want to throw a few coins into the hat.
