My dad always told me that the Golden Rule was “He who has the gold gets to make the rules.” I was an adult before I discovered that his quip was not in fact the golden rule, but instead “treat others as you’d like them to treat you.” While I think that the latter is a better motto to live by, the economy we live in today is run based on my dad’s version.
