this is a religious war of east and west, vatican and the eastern orthodoxy. quit imagining this is a political situation. the most elegant solution is an franco-russo alliance which stabilises the eu and puts the us, uk, and vatican firmly in their place. this is not a reverse-reformation. the anglican church pivoting back to supporting catherine of aragon is over. right now.
