Sunday Thoughts
I believe heaven, hell, and purgatory are all states of consciousness that we experience during human life.
I believe I've experienced all three during my life already at different points.
Heaven - a state of consciousness where nothing is missing. Characterized by love, peace, and calm contentment.
Hell - a state of consciousness where everything is missing. Characterized by fear, anxiety, and depression.
Purgatory - a state of consciousness where everything feels a little bit out of reach. Full of longing and the feeling that some things are okay, but some things are missing.
I find myself more and more spiritual these days but less religious. The problem I have with organized religion is the dogma (I'm allergic to dogma) and the focus on the afterlife.
From my perspective, Christ's message was all about building the Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth. During your life. Inside your own mind, body, and spirit.
Christ's two essential commands?
Love one another.
Do not be afraid.
If we can do those two things, we can build heaven on Earth for ourselves and the people around us.
I believe there may be a need to go through hell and purgatory during our lifetimes (through our state of consciousness) in order to reach heaven. Perhaps even multiple times.
Perhaps each individual is going through challenges in life in order to find their own path to heaven on Earth.
God bless you and yours 🙏

In addition to the New Testament, reading Letting Go by David Hawkins influenced my thinking on this quite a bit.
