People don't really reject the idea of God. Most people are ok with the idea of an almighty creator of the universe. What they object to is submission. People don't want to accept that there is an objective right and wrong designed into said creation by the creator. If they accept this, it means they must change. It means they must relinquish (perceived) control and admit weakness/ignorance. It is the original sin reading is had again: PRIDE It is the same thing that caused Satan to fall. It is the same thing that led Adam and Eve to disobey in the garden. It is the same thing that all humans of all times have always struggled with.
