YouTube’s strategy is to make their ADs as annoying as fuckin possible to force you into buying premium….. and it’s working.

Use Brave browser and use all the possible extensions to block ads. It works. On Mobile it is a nightmare to block ads.
I use chrome and have an ad blocker but it doesn’t work for video ads. I’ll try Brave
