Bitcoin Arithmetic #11 – The Playground Race
Imagine all your friends are on a playground, and each of you wants to run a race from the slide to the swing. Before anyone starts, you all have to agree on the rules: who runs first, how far to go, and where the finish line is. In Bitcoin, sending a coin is like starting a race. Every runner (transaction) is watched by all the friends (nodes) to make sure nobody cheats, jumps ahead, or moves the finish line. Only when everyone agrees that the race was fair does the winner get the prize, and that prize is recorded on a big notebook everyone shares. That notebook is called the blockchain.
