Reminder that as things shift from traditional media to alternative media (podcasts, influencers etc…) the intelligence agencies will just co-opt the podcasters and they’re extremely easy to co-opt. Perhaps 100x easier than traditional media.

I doubt that. Podcasters are much more decentralised than traditional media. It will be much harder to co opt them. Also, copted podcasters will be called out. Places like NOSTR will spread truth to psyops. I think we are winning big time. Prediction : Vance wins even bigger than Trump in 2028

But we haz a web of trust. Groupthink may be a larger enemy.
Agreed, they will try this, but it will be more like whack a more. Decentralization is good, and the audiences will sniff it out. Authenticity is incredibly hard to fake

Only if they have need advertising money. Value for value No Agenda is 17 years plus!
The caveat is that there are more to manipulate than the 3 networks of the days of my youth. More but cheaper to control. Also more risk of exposure. On net I think we are in better shape but your propaganda sense must be sharp.

This is why we’ll need WoT tools nimble enough to identify and weed out the bad actors faster than they can do damage.
This is a misrepresentation. Pieces of content from those podcasts that are sold to various outlets via licensing agreements had been licensed to an agency that turned out to be a Russian actor. No original content was made for this Russian state asset. They just bought the license to whatever was already available and likely tried to amplify it. Tim talked about it at length on his pod.
It's not. Those podcasters aren't even denying that happened. Their defense is "we didn't realize those outrageous paiements were suspicious. We weren't aware it was Russia using us." But none of them denied getting paid outrageous amount from foreign agencies.
I had to look up the term “limited hangout” and holy shit, that’s basically the entire Joe Rogan podcast. Fuck me. lol
Maybe it was a total waste of money from that Russian actor but it's hard to believe they're just completely retarded and would've obtained the exact same outcome from timcast without any funding. I don't necessarily believe the people implicated to tell the truth on wether or not they were influenced in any way. But hey maybe. Maybe they just wasted all that money.

Single individuals, yes. It is the multitudes and virality that gives them their power over traditional centralized media. Those wishing to be independent of coersion should broadcast anonymously, (which some do) under a pseudonym. Focus on making the barrier to entry low enough for regular, knowledgeable, journalists. Yet, high enough to exclude automated spam.
Podcasters are just dudes with opinions. “Journalists” were like doctors before they destroyed themselves during covid. They were presumptively trustworthy to a large swath of the population. If Rogan starts pushing CIA talking points, he’ll seem like a dude with retarded opinions quick. Think they’d probably launch some fake podcasters (think Candlebox after Nirvana and Pearl Jam became big) who will push extra radical ideas and call out Rogan for being a CIA op, while being CIA ops themselves. Actually more like Whitney Webb, just sow doubt as to whether you can get behind or trust anyone. Maybe they’re already doing that.

Yup. Joe Rogan going on a decade of a radio silence after being this much into Bitcoin ... image *Andreas was on 3x times in 2014 (Jan, April, December). Since then mostly just rare funny mentions, and the last 4th Andreas appearance in Sep 2016.
