The argument is anonymity but at what cost? You have to use it with many users to gain the anonymity you can get with lightning already and you can do offline payments with bolt12

I always thought Lightning was pretty damn anonymous, if using a non-custodial wallet. Right?
The sender can also pay for stuff without internet connection (paper qr codes, etc.)
LN complements ecash mints quite nicely
