🦆 Duck Harvest All Wrapped Up! — Thoughts from the Pasture 🌿 Just processed our 2025 batch of pasture-raised ducks at Cackleberry Farm and Garden—36 birds at 8 weeks, a far cry from the intended harvest of 150! But I consider that a blessing at this point, I have never wanted to quit more than I did this year! Our ducks are moved daily across fresh ground, fed organic, and given the care only small farms can offer. Prices are up ~30% this year, and signage updates are coming soon (once I dig myself out from under a pile of feathers and fencing projects). We operate under the food freedom bill and thus do not sell across state lines, so if you're in Wyoming, ask about “soup kitchen” bundles—delicious, affordable, and great for tacos. Let’s clear some freezer space together! Lessons from this season: An 7 week duck plucks a little better compared to 8 weeks. Even though I like the size of 8 weeks better in the freezer. I’ll time future harvests to match the 7 week molt. Cheap bedding cost me dearly. Going forward, it’s pellets and biochar only. ONLY. That scalder I need costs as much as a quality used car— and the opportunity costed that is real.
