pi.dev has some weird marketing. It advertises itself as very simple because it only ships with 4 tools: - read - write - edit - bash But it's weird, because read, write and edit can all be done from bash directly (and the models will gladly do it if you try to block any of the others), so why not only say it ships with 'bash'?

Now, if you want to make an allowance for dedicated read/write/edit tools that make the life of the agent easier, then why stop at these three? There are a bunch of other tools that would also make the life of the agent easier, from LSP access to nicer webfetch capabilities, or even the ability to control a headless browser. Or, if you want to claim that "pi can build itself" then why not say that people have to provide their own read/write/edit tools (which can easily be oneshotted with just bash at first anyway)?
