I'm on the side of this is a good thing, even though it's a bad thing. There will be systems in the venue, on the way to the venue, perhaps even down to purchasing the tickets for the concert that will be scanning and logging you regardless - to provocatively use it as a potential wakeup call for people that don't think about these things, either through not caring or ignorance - will hopefully bring questions up about 'is this the way we want the world to be?' and from there positive actions to dealing with it.
