yepp Splitwise is that, and it's purely data tracking but I'll add the option for balancing it out using something like UPI (for the Indians) and PayPal maybe for those outside? my target audience is my friend group anyways because I don't like to use Splitwise and they use it. so I'm making my own so that I don't have to use Splitwise which shoves ads up my face or tells me to buy premium after every click.

So will the whole thing work on top of nostr or is it just using nostr for identity? I'm still fairly naive to how nostr works behind the scenes but how does this work? I'm imagining something like, have a client that only views and posts specific types of notes for transaction data and then you just do the calculations client side?
