The thinking behind it is that you are able to hold your own data (have your own relay).
Sure most data will be public to everyone.

I can hold my own X data, but so does Elon.
I can exclusively hold my nostr data IF I run my own relay AND I don’t share it with anyone. It’s just public data all the same.
