A while back I wrote this article about building my website with @Npub.pro Everything I wrote there still holds true and I love the idea of it.
However, I gotta be honest, too. Lately and in its current state, it doesn't really work reliably:
- It becomes way too heavy. The loading times are enormous. Nobody waits that long anymore for a website to open.
- Integrated posts show up sometimes ... well and sometimes they don't. Gotta be lucky that the viewer who strays into your website sees the latest event you want her to see.
- Some posts display their pictures & videos ... well and some don't ๐คท๐ผโโ๏ธ
So, in other words it's hit or miss and too slow. Not worth a subscription for my use case. Which is curating important posts and announcing workshops and retreats. Not yet, Nostr, not yet ๐โโ๏ธ

can you cache your posts so you're not hammering the NOSTR network on every pageload?
Mh, is caching something I can easily decide to do or not, switch on or off?
Everytime I load my npub.pro website, I have a slightly different result, one post shows up, the other doesn't and next time it'll be different again. I can imagine that media content in higher quality slows things down, but there's no user-friendly way to avoid that as far as I can see.
I'll be happy to learn :)
I haven't ever used npub.pro, but if you've got your own server you could probably scrape the relays yourself every 5 minutes or so, and then populate your website from those results...
I see what you mean, thanks! I don't run my own server yet though ... one thing I have in mind when time time's ripe ๐ค๐ผ
well, ping me if it feels like you want some support getting that to a place you're happy with... for personal or professional reasons.
I'm happy to support in personal or professional context, and if it is something a bit more than favor-sized effort, I'm open to small side projects.
