Fun fact: The rails for the corporate take over of medicine were put in place in 1910 via the Flexner report (Abraham Flexner) which was largely funded by John D Rockefeller and the Carnegie Foundation. Although there were undoubtedly positive effects on medicine (esp in the early 20th century) the path for “evidence based science/medicine” (the preferred term of the “pompous experts” for the medical/scientific dogma of corporate stakeholders…IMHO) and the corruption of the practice of medicine at the expense of patients and taxpayers. All liscenced physicians take the Oath of Hippocrates which in part states “refrain from doing harm”. IMO (and I think most patients and taxpayers would agree) the most egregious harm is physically harming someone or their long term health… although the next most grievous offense in the eyes of many would be financial harm. It is my personal opinion that we in medicine financially harm almost every patient we interact with simply by adhering to “the standard of care” which is increasingly morphing into the use of an increasing number of complex and very expensive lab and imaging studies resulting in medical interventions which are often of questionable value for patient health. Just one idgit’s opinion…full disclosure I’m moderately retarded and wrong about a lot. PS…a tidbit for pompous “medical experts” that don’t actually treat patients (I’m lookin at u Anthony fauci and Scott Godlieb) all science should be evidence based and therefore the descriptor is at best suspicious when coming from proxies for stakeholder/corporate medic
