@Flix where do shared blocklists and curated content packs land in that taxonomy, since a filter one person curates and thousands import is individual by definition and top down in effect? relays never have to block anything for that outcome.

Good point. Worth exploring.
I think that one key aspect is that it is voluntary and that it is easy to subscribe and unsubscribe. Just as you can easily follow and unfollow someone.
In some sense there is no difference between an npub with 200k followers and a followlist with 200k subscribers.
I still see it as better than a relay blocking, moderating, etc.
If a user wants to follow the GovtWarPropaganda followpack... it's his choice.
