ARK is still young but addresses two of Lightning’s known drawbacks quite well. It could replace centralized Lightning wallets and submarine swaps, making it a strong complement, but not a substitute, for Lightning. Cashu operates entirely off‑chain and can be seen as another type of Lightning extension.
Of course, solutions like Liquid and Spark can define and issue other assets, but that is a separate discussion.
