what about removing an item from the list?

Once we have support for downvotes as well as upvotes, and once this is out there in the wild and we can all play with it, then we can use downvotes to remove items. I intentionally did not specify details of how that should work, because I want different clients and different users to have the flexibility to decide for themselves details like how to filter out spam, how many downvotes it takes to remove an item from the list, whether you want to take into account additional sources of feedback (not just kind 7 downvotes) that will almost certainly come into existence.
what if people want to actively curate the list instead of just randomly liking or disliking items? the like/dislike process seems hit or miss, there is no incentive to invest on it
What do you mean actively curate the list? Liking or disliking items is how you do that.
