That could be one reason. AlterSend is also written in TypeScript (javascript varient), so the web framework technologies may be a bit heavy.
The extra code for encryption and security could be a reason... Another could be that AlterSend is written in TypeScript (javascript) so the web framework and graphical bloat could also be a factor. I am also not a fan of heavy apps, but this look genuinely useful.
