I haven’t read Spinoza’s original works, but I took several university philosophy courses where we discussed his ideas, and I’ve also read some secondary literature. As far as I understand him, he wasn’t really an atheist—he redefined God as the one substance underlying everything (Deus sive Natura). That’s why I’m curious why you mention Spinoza.
