I have been considering sharing my new lifestyle journey. I was gradually transitioning but have made the switch nearly completely. At first I thought this was crazy, and I'm not ready to commit to full carnivore... But so far there is something to this...
I have familial high cholesterol, a previous type 2 heart attack (covid vaccine caused) and was borderline prediabetic on my last blood draw. I decided something needed to change.
I'm still consuming low glycemic load fruits and veggies.
I'm down about 7 lbs in the past 3 weeks since I started keto(vore?). I was down more yesterday, but my body decided it wanted water back, so I am up 1.2 lbs last 24h.
I am not largely obese, but could definitely do with less visceral fat. My love handles have mostly disappeared and my pants are falling down already, had to put a new notch in my belt. This is despite me going into this gradually (except o dropped sugar and seed oils straight away).
I am hoping to be down below 200lbs in the next 2 months. I don't think that's an unobtainable goal, that's only 5-6 lbs away. After that I will switch to making more lean muscle rather than just trying to maintain muscle mass. Realistically. I cannot go back to how I was in my mid-twenties at about 150lbs (I have more muscle mass now, I was a twig).
Most challenging thing!? Having some nice fatty meat ready whenever I get hungry. I am eating 5-6 times a day, I get ravenously hungry with very little notice. It comes in waves. I tried low glycemic load fruits, but they don't touch it. It has to be meat. During those times, I don't crave carbs anymore. I just eat meat then. I eat as much as I want.
The carb cravings come still sometimes, but I don't want sugar anymore at all. I can sometimes crave breads or potatoes. This morning though, I had one taste of the hash browns I made for the family and found I didn't want them. I just consumed all the bacon and eggs I could get my hands on.
I tried a little piece of candy last week and found it too sweet. Unejoyably so.
I'd prefer to have some homemade whipped cream(unsweetened) as a treat. Which is great, almost pure fats, and sweet already as it is, perhaps with a touch of vanilla extract.
Also, with the onset of ketosis, my breath feels different, I'm pretty sure I can feel myself breathing out ketones like deep in my lungs. Its always strongest before I eat in the morning, but I'm feeling it pretty much all day now. Its kinda like the feeling you get all day after a really good cardio workout.
How do I feel!? More energetic, especially in the mornings. I'm ready to get out of bed and go for a hunt. I can start to drag by the evenings though, probably because I wake up so early.
Perhaps later I'll post about some of the meats I've been trying. Calf's liver, that was a treat!!
