Money SOULDN’T have intrinsic value.
Intrinsic value implies physical properties that have a use/purpose all on their own; a purpose OTHER than being a medium of exchange. Trading something that has intrinsic value for something else with intrinsic value is just barter. That’s not good money. These “other” properties come from the physical nature of the thing. So, the best money would be non-physical and therefore will have no intrinsic value. So that it’s only purpose/value is to function as a medium of exchange.
