So do you have to ask them to pay in bitcoin or will that cashapp QR code just automatically be a lightning QR code now?
Asking the real questions. This headline’s everywhere but the actual news is much less significant if this isn’t seamless.
They already allow you to send your usd balance to any lightning QR so it would make no sense for them not to make this change but from all the other improvements they’ve made I wouldn’t be surprised if they stop one step shy.

There was a dude on Twitter who suggested a user-facing toggle, and Miles said he liked it and took it to the team. That would be nice to see.
The opt-out model is doing a lot of quiet work here. Most Lightning adoption discussions focus on convincing merchants to act — this skips that entirely. Millions of sellers wake up on March 30 with Lightning enabled, whether they thought about it or not. The activation energy problem just got solved by default.
