#Nostr would do extremely well if the self-sovereign identity thing was positioned better. That's the best part. Use one identity for multiple apps - blogging, pinstr, fundraising etc and you could get zapped everywhere It has to be an ecosystem and not a random, one-off replacement to Twitter

Imo nostr: 1. Got labeled under “crypto” in the tech world. 2. Is not an escape Elon destination like blue sky 3. Is not positioned well (censorship resistant) though that’s a really strong quality - people just don’t care) 4. Is not doing a good job to cater to groups of people jumping here 5. Is not catering to younger audiences - old people building apps for old people (yes I’m considering myself old here) - not saying it’s bad 6. Doesn’t have anything obvious going for it - it’s not actually the case but to an outside observer - they can’t tell what we’re excited about. 7. Is still hard to find things on 8. Lacks content Doesn’t help that all of this also requires people abandoning their network - which almost never happens, hence need for more interesting use cases or join-as-a-group UX. Not saying all the things I listed are bad either. There’s clearly something very important and very interesting happening here or we wouldn’t be here. I love nostr! 💜 View quoted note →

It's simple! There's no "account" and you're accessing everything

I don’t think any of those things sell. I always said nostr wins when we have great apps that solve problems or fulfill one of many needs people currently use other apps to fulfill. All those other things are nice extras - though super important.

Ditto. Normies don't care about those things Personally, I like the fact that there is account-less access to problem-solving apps

Positioning is a marketing concept which suggests how you position your product relative to the competition Just calling #Nostr a protocol, not platform and censorship-resistant is NOT enough No one gives a fekk

My main advertising slogan for Nostr is "No Algorithms, No Corporations, No Advertising". What I'm seeing a lot of people asking for is private groups, where an admin/moderator controls who sees the feed, and they don't have to worry about the whole world watching. Having the entire planet on a level playing field seems very strange to new people, and it is hard to get used to the idea.
