Yep, the script you mentioned was a stealthy way of doing it available to few. It couldn’t go public back in the day, cause Apple could have kicked Damus out of the App Store, so ZapplePay was the top solution. Now that @current exhausted Apple with multiple requests for note zaps and adjustments, a few Nostr clients already provide note zaps functionality, so the script is public and, frankly saying, much more convenient and simple to setup.
