Use a harbor freight moving blanket to hide yourself as you approach (hold it out in front of yourself so the skunk only sees a giant rectangle getting close) Use that to cover the cage as you relocate it. Open the door facing some cover/bushes and it will leave without spraying.

Similar to what I did. The trap has a solid door. I approached from that side with a garbage bag. My intention was to get the trap in the bag and relocate and shoot. I didn't get the bag on all the way, and the skunk was very antsy, so I shot him there and moved him afterwards.

50/50 spray on death. I take it you got lucky? Lol

I think it sprayed a little, but not a direct hit or large volume. My wife had to get close and actually sniff me to smell it. I might have to get a tarp/blanket next time.
