Haven't used Nostr on desktop in a while, but #Gossip was my go-to when I did. It's been a few months since the last release, but I'm pretty sure Mike is still maintaining it.

@Matt Nelson damus has a desktop version #desknote builds in rust! Works well. Still in development.
