I am in favor of BIP110. I think it is responsible. Effectively what it does to mine with it, even if not everyone agrees on those consensus restrictions, is to prioritize certain blocks over others, and that is something that was always built into the design of Bitcoin, whether consciously recognized by Bitcoin OGs or not. It ALWAYS was going to start to look like this. Rough consensus with very interesting power dynamics. Using it as a user is arguably an even stronger signal, as you are saying, this is the only version of Bitcoin that I call the true Bitcoin.
