Uploading AV1 should work with zap.stream for the Good endpoint but otherwise no
what do you mean by good endpoint?
On zap.stream backend there are 2 endpoints, Basic / Good, on the basic endpoint there is no transcoding so your AV1 upload would break the output (HLS) with Good endpoint we transcode back to H264 which means you can upload AV1 and it will be converted to H264 for playback
Does that keep the bitrate quality for the people watching on stream?
No its transcoded to multiple variants like 1080p 720p etc same as twitch.tv or youtube. AV1 playback isnt really supported yet afaik in HLS, technically it cant work, but i didnt test it yet.
On zap.stream backend we use fMP4 so its possible to encode to AV1 in MP4 container but like i said, not tested.
