did you check if your cell phone is compatible with lineageOS? it does not have the same level of security as grapheneos, but it does give more control over what to install.

Yup.
Did start a trial run installing LineageOS, but something came up and shelved it midway.
Scheduled to try LineageOS and/or http://E.foundationy this coming week.
P.S: have you ever encountered this screen? It's new, it wasn't there in previous years, have disabled location on Maps multiple times:
