I was sceptical about NOSTR beating Twitter’s network effects but Nostr is at least 10x better already. Twitter doesn’t stand a chance in my opinion.
Why:
- decentralized/ immutable
- centralized twitter development can’t keep up with open source development
- spaces for Nostr already here
- zaps incentives content creators to spend more time on Nostr
- spam prevention by using paid relays
And this is just getting started.
Twitter is in a heap of trouble.

Considering the amount of work achieved so far I really wonder what twitter employees were busy with 🤷
Council of truth and misinformation
Normies don't give a fuck about freedom of speech and decentralization. They care about convenience, pop culture and want heavy moderation. If it's not seen as "cool" they ain't coming. There's more to network effects than just tech. Also remains to be seen how nostr will scale.
who?
Buddy and fellow bitcoiner. He has similar takes. Your post reminded me of him

oh him! haha
yeah he's right tho 😂
not saying it can't grow to a decent size. But it probably won't overtake the big tech social media apps.
The only reason twitter would crash 90% is because elon destroyed it. But that would happen with or without nostr and wouldn't be a fair measurement stick in that case.
Spam prevention is key IMO. Just about done with it in every other service. I just waiting now for product companies to pay me to read their content with zaps.
I'm specifically interested to see how tech service companies, for example, try to entice admins to try unsubscribed services by paying them to read content. E.g. You're an Azure SQL admin...MSFT prompts, "can we zap you some sats to read about DataBricks on Azure?" :)
